چکیده

A finite element program capable of analysing finite plane strain deformations of incompressible rubberlike (Mooney-Rivlin) materials has been develop~d. Two problems, namely a long wall loaded uniformly in two directions and a thick-wall cylindrical pressure vessel loaded internally, have been solved. The computed values of displacements, strains, stresses and hydrostatic pressure agree very closely with their values obtained analytically.

Constitutive Relation for Large Deformations of Fiber-Reinforced Rubberlike Materials with Different Response in Tension and Compression

Fiber-reinforced rubberlike materials commonly used in tires undergo large deformations and exhibit different responses in tension and compression along the fiber direction. Assuming that the response of a fiber-reinforced rubberlike material can be modeled as transversely isotropic with the fiber direction as the axis of transverse isotropy, we express the stored energy function in terms of th...

Material tailoring and universal relations for axisymmetric deformations of functionally graded rubberlike cylinders and spheres

We find the spatial variation of material parameters for pressurized cylinders and spheres composed of either an incompressible Hookean, neo-Hookean, or Mooney–Rivlin material so that during their axisymmetric deformations either the in-plane shear stress or the hoop stress has a desired spatial variation. It is shown that for a cylinder and a sphere made of an incompressible Hookean material, ...

A Note on Anti-plane Shear for Compressible Materials in Finite Elastostatics

This note gives a necessary and sufficient condition that a compressible, isotropic elastic material should admit non-trivial states of finite anti-plane shear. One of the simplest classes of deformations of solids is that of anti-plane shear, in which each particle of a cylindrical body undergoes a displacement parallel to the generators of the cylinder and independent of the axial position of...

A shell f inite element formulation to analyze highly deformable rubber

Abstract: In this paper, a shell finite element formulation to analyze highly deformable shell structures composed of homogeneous rubberlike materials is presented. The element is a triangular shell of anyorder with seven nodal parameters. The shell kinematics is based on geometrically exact Lagrangian description and on the ReissnerMindlin hypothesis. The finite element can represent thickness...

Finite-element Formulations for Problems of Large Elastic-plastic Deformation

Abstract-An Eulerian finite element formulation is presented for problems of large elastic-plastic flow. The method is based on Hill’s variational principle for incremental deformations, and is ideally suited to isotropically hardening Prandtl-Reuss materials. Further, the formulation is given in a manner which allows any conventions finite element program, for “small strain” elastic-plastic an...
